About My Writing
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember, churning out works spanning various genres since I was a child. I create as vociferously as I devour when it comes to writing - if you’re a big reader too, you might want to check out my TikTok or StoryGraph accounts!
In 2021, I headed off to Birkbeck to formalise my love of writing into an MA in Creative Writing. Since then, I have been expanding my portfolio of writing to include films, short stories, and a little dabble with poetry, as well as the plays and narrative fiction that I’ve always enjoyed creating.
My favourite work to write involves playing with form and meta narratives, encouraging the audience or the reader to be part of the puzzle of working out the story.
In Short
I love short-form writing for stage, screen and the page. One of my favourite projects over the years has been ‘The Year of Tall Tales’, in which I wrote a short piece of prose or poetry every day for a year! You can find that project here.
Over the years, I have also been a featured playwright with the ‘Playwrights for Hire’ project for Down Stage Write and Elevate Festival. This project aims to widen access to theatre and generate cash for charity by asking people to donate £1 in exchange for an original one-page-long piece of stage writing. This is always a fun job, with fast-paced writing and no room for doubt! Often, this culminates in a live show, where audience members are able to give two writers prompts to create a new one-page play in under an hour, while performers act out works written throughout the event. The final one page plays from audience suggestions are then performed live, having never been seen before.
This also gave me the opportunity to be the first playwright ‘Artist in the Corner’ for the Exeter Failspace Project, as part of Elevate Festival. As artists gathered to chat all things failure, I created three pieces to read live, based on their conversations.
